Wind warning in effect for:
  • Guysborough County
Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

Strong easterly winds are forecast to develop with coastal gusts to 90 km/h this evening. Winds will gradually ease overnight.
Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.

Snowfall warning in effect for:
  • Queens County P.E.I.
Snowfall, with total amounts of 15 to 20 cm is expected.

Ice pellets and freezing rain will change back to snow, heavy at times, this evening. Total snow and ice pellet accumulations are expected to reach 15 to 20 cm before tapering to showers or flurries later tonight.
Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.

Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

Strong northwesterly winds will develop early this evening with coastal gusts reaching 100 km/h. The northwesterlies will begin to diminish again later this evening.
Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.

Freezing rain warning in effect for:
  • Cumberland County North and Cobequid Pass
Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring.

Freezing rain will persist into this afternoon over many areas, especially inland, before changing to rain. The change to rain may occur sooner or have already happened over some coastal locations. Precipitation will then change back to ice pellets and snow this evening.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.

  • Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick
Significant accumulations of ice pellets are expected.

Moderate at times heavy ice pellets at times mixed with freezing rain will persist this afternoon before changing to snow this evening. Ice pellet amounts near 10 cm are expected today and will be followed by snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm tonight. The snow will ease on Wednesday.

Winter storm warning in effect for:
  • Fredericton and Southern York County
Hazardous winter conditions are expected.

Ice pellets or freezing rain will change over to snow at times heavy this afternoon. This will result in significant ice buildup, especially over higher terrain. The heavy snow will taper to period of light snow before ending overnight. Total snowfall accumulations up to 20 cm are expected before the snow ends.
Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
